A conversation with a liberal.
Today, I had a chance to have a longish discussion with a "liberal". Oh, yes, he voted for Obama. Not sure why, but he did. He asked me what I was, I said... far to the right.
So, we had a long conversation. It strayed from the birthers "They're just crazy nuts totally off their rocker". He still thinks that some authority has vetted Obama. No idea what authority. Just sure it must have happened. Also, he was sure that a picture on a website was, well, unquestionable. I did notice that eventually he decided that was a bit presumptive.
On Palin. "She's just unbelievably dumb". Favorite proof - Sarah's "reading list". So, I asked him, "What do you read"? "I don't read much at all". Heh.
But we've known each other years. On civil rights: We agree on freedom of religion, speech, right of property ownership. On health care: Government just doesn't seem at all capable of doing this. But, we have to take care of poor people, but we agreed that charity should be personal, not governmental. Economy: We need to get people with entrepreneurial spirit to expand, grow, start... Need to lower barriers for people to do that. Wants his own business but just will not brook the headache of being an employer - we agree there's too many impediments to business. On fiscal needs: Government needs to stop spending like a madman and start paying some debts.
So, I'm a right winger. but we agree on almost everything except: Palin's dumb, Obama's smart.
He found little on issues of practical matters that we disagreed about.
So, why did he vote for democrats? Cause he hates republicans over... Well, hates Cheney.
That's it.
Sometime I'll have to inform him he's really just a conservative and it's dumb to vote Democrat.
