The consequences of not playing politics
The media today has some stories about how the Senate has agreed to remove the "end of life" provisions from its version of "Obamacare". There's some jubilant people right now, thinking they've won a victory. No, you're going to have a huge loss.
As for me, the only thing I want to happen, is to have actual healthcare improvements. I want less government interference, I want less mandates, I want fewer intrusions. I want some free market improvements in health care. That's what I want. That's what we NEED. That's the REAL answer, not creeping socialism.
So, because we're lacking strategy, we're using examples of the ugly things that socialized types will do when given free reign. If we keep down this road, we're not going to result in a vote failure and we hold fast to the status quo, to fight another day. Nope, we're not. We're going to face a watered down version that has enough compromises to get the votes, and more creeping socialism. In other words, we're going to engineer our own defeat.
Why? Because we're not playing politics. We are not "planning, strategizing, campaigning" to win. We're engineering our own defeat, by simply failing to advance, and just continuing to make strategic rearward motions.
Now, I am NOT belittling, criticising, or otherwise the people who are protesting, those who oppose, who are writing, speaking, demonstrating. No, they're doing the right thing. But what's missing, is that there is NO CONSERVATIVE LEADERSHIP WAVING THE STANDARD SHOUTING "CHAARRRRRRGE"!!!! Where is our concerted, orchestrated demands for real market reforms? Where is our concerted effort to remove government from our lives? Well, WHERE IS IT?
Gee, we're attempting to do more than "not lose too much ground". Like we've been doing for 40 years.
I dunno, it might actually be heroic to have held off socialism for a few more years than it would have taken them to get there otherwise, but somehow, I don't feel that way. I'm sick of not winning. I'm sick of not even trying to win. I'm tired of "strategic withdrawals" and never, EVER planning on advancing.
Yes, I know, we're conservatives. It's not in our nature to get radical and start attempting to make serious changes to our world. Maybe we need to evolve a little. Or, maybe a lot. All I know, is that I'm not wanting to 'take it' anymore.
